1. Field and Setup

The Omegaball field can be divided into three parts: Res End territory, the Omega, and Ack End territory. Each team has two goal trees; on Ack End, they are the two westernmost trees, and on Res End, they are the two easternmost trees. The sidewalk surrounding three sides of the Omega are out-of-bounds. The eastern out-of-bounds boundary is loosely defined as an imaginary line passing through the green box on the grass east of the goal trees.

There is one Omega ball (approximated as a soccer ball), and each team has a gamma (a (clean) sock).

At the half, teams switch sides of the Omega.

2. Overview

Teams score points either by:

  1. Tagging one of their opponent’s goal trees and then tagging one of their own goal trees without losing possession of the Omega ball (an Omega Goal, worth 2 points)
  2. Bouncing the Omega ball on one end of the Omega, then running the Omega ball across the length of the Omega and bouncing it on the other end (an Omega Touchdown, also worth 2 points)

Players may pass the Omega ball amongst themselves using any part of their body so long as the ball does not cross from one territory to another (Ack End → Res End, Res End → Ack End) without bouncing on the Omega first.

Teams score points by tagging one of their opponent’s goal trees with the Omega ball, then returning the Omega ball to their side and tagging one of their goal trees without losing possession of the ball at any point in between.

If a player carrying the Omega ball is tagged with an opponent’s gamma, they must give up the Omega ball to the tagger.

If the Omega ball makes contact with the ground, its possession is lost and players scramble to retrieve it. Excessive soccer-ing may merit a foul. Dropping the ball and picking it back up constitutes briefly losing possession, even if no opposing player touches it.

Additionally, teams can score an Omega Touchdown by having the Omega ball bounced to them on one end of the Omega and then bouncing the Omega ball on the other end of the Omega, with at most one pass between the two bounces.

In the event of a tie, the winner is determined by an Omega Shootout.

3. Moving the Omega ball

3.1. Passing

  1. The Omega ball may be passed with any part of the body, so long as the ball does not cross from one territory to another (Ack End → Res End or Res End → Ack End) as a result of the pass.
  2. The Omega ball may be passed from a team territory to a player on the Omega. However, as a consequence of Rule 3.1.1, that player cannot then directly pass the ball to a player on the opposite territory.
